Falls Prevention & Balance Classes

What is Falls and Balance?

The falls and balance classes at Watsonia Physiotherapy focus on improving strength, stability, and coordination to reduce the risk of falls and enhance confidence with daily movement. Balance is often thought of as something we should work on as we age, but it is never too early to start working on your balance.

This program is ideal for:

  • Anyone experiencing unsteadiness or a fear of falling
  • Individuals with a history of falls or near-falls
  • People with vertigo related balance impairments
  • People recovering from injury or post-surgery
  • Anyone looking to improve their balance

What will the Falls and Balance class Involve?

    • Twelve weekly sessions that are completed at Watsonia Physiotherapy in a class setting
    • Small group classes, consisting of no more than 4 people
    • Classes run for 45 minutes and are supervised by a physiotherapist
    • Participants will also be provided with exercises to perform at home to supplement the exercises completed during the class.

Our program is personalised to each participant’s needs and typically includes:

    • Strengthening exercises for lower body and core stability
    • Exercises that challenge balance in a safe environment
    • Progress tracking throughout your program and a formal re-assessment at 12 weeks to review your home exercise program and ensure you are meeting your goals
