Falls Prevention Program

Stay Steady, Active and Independent

As we get older, it’s normal to notice changes in balance, strength, and confidence with movement. You may feel less steady on your feet, become more cautious when walking outdoors or using stairs, or avoid activities that once felt easy and enjoyable.

The good news is that balance, strength, and mobility can all be improved with the right exercise and support.

Our Falls Prevention Program is designed to help you move with greater confidence, maintain your independence, and continue doing the things you enjoy safely and confidently. Rather than focusing on the fear of falling, our aim is to help you feel stronger, steadier, and more capable in everyday life.

Who Is This Program For?

This program may be suitable for you if you:

  • Feel unsteady or less confident with walking or balance
  • Have noticed reduced strength, mobility or endurance
  • Have experienced a fall or near fall
  • Avoid certain activities because of concerns about falling
  • Would like to improve your confidence with movement
  • Want to stay active, independent and socially connected

What Does the Falls Prevention Program Involve?

Before starting the program, you will have an initial assessment with one of our physiotherapists. During this session, we will complete a comprehensive balance and mobility assessment to better understand your current abilities, confidence with movement and personal goals.

This assessment allows us to tailor the program to your individual needs and fitness level, helping you get the most out of each session.

The Falls Prevention Program Includes:

  • Twelve weekly group exercise sessions
  • 45-minute sessions supervised by an experienced physiotherapist
  • Individualised balance, strength and mobility exercises
  • Education and practical strategies to support safe movement and reduce falls risk
  • A home exercise program to support progress between sessions
  • Ongoing progress tracking throughout the program
  • A formal re-assessment at 12 weeks to review your progress and update your home exercise program

A Safe and Supportive Environment

We understand that starting an exercise program can sometimes feel daunting, especially if your confidence or steadiness has changed over time.

That’s why our program is:

  • Run in small groups of no more than four participants
  • Supervised closely by experienced physiotherapists
  • Tailored to your individual abilities and goals
  • Designed to progress at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you

You will be supported every step of the way in a welcoming, encouraging and supportive environment.
